OU Human Resources - Benefits Technician Opening!

    This position is responsible for reviewing and processing all benefits and retirement paperwork, as well as family status changes. The Benefits Technician also presents information to new hires at orientation, assists with system testing for the open enrollment process and ensures benefits payments and credits are correct for payroll.  The Benefits Technician will also be accountable for answering questions about the active benefits and student health plans and assisting during open enrollment periods for those two populations and other assignments as determined by supervision.

    Required Education and Experience

    A GED/High School Graduate OR an equivalent combination of education/job related experience AND 24 months of experience working in benefits or retirement or related human resources field.

    Required Skills and Proficiencies

    • Advanced excel skills with ability to build and manipulate spreadsheets
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office
    • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
    • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
    • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff
    • Customer service
    • Must be able to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations effectively
    • Composition and proofreading skills

    Department Preferences:

    • 36 months or more experience working in retiree services specifically
    • Experience with PeopleSoft
    • Strong presentation skills
